Rainer Klingner

At just under 70, Rainer is the oldest in the toddler group. He and his wife Gisi ran a diving school in the north of Ibiza for over 30 years and he has been climbing for over 2 decades. A large number of the climbing routes on the island, especially the multi-pitch routes, were opened by him. In 2017, he got leukaemia, childhood leukaemia as he points out, which “only” led to permanent nerve damage in his feet. But that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to climb. As soon as he holds a drill in his hand, the years noticeably fall away from him. Hardly surprising, therefore, that almost all the MOBBS routes on the island were also set up by him.

Bernd Ahlers

Bernd had spent most of his time on the seven seas in the horizontal until climbing on the island made him hang up his captain’s licence at the age of 60. Since then, the “capitano sin barco” the captain without a boat (as the local fisherman call him) has spent almost all his time in the mountains of Ibiza. He wouldn’t be a real sailor if he wasn’t missing a leg (almost). But that hasn’t stopped him over the last 10 years from conquering the vertical with growing enthusiasm and innovative climbing technique. The development of the MOBBS he actively assisted with nautical knowledge and yarn.

Sven Sommer

At almost 60 years of age the homoeopath and son of a mechanical engineer, who his daughter likes to call the “little fat Italian”, is the runt of the litter. But on the rock he is the senior, having learned to climb at the age of 16 at a monastery school in southern Germany. His pseudo-esoteric, even religious-technical delusions provided a not insignificant contribution to the development of the MOBBS.
